Not a lot needs to be said here, except that the good people at Roadshow are releasing Hero to retail on May 5th.

A movie with Jet Li starring and with the backing of Quentin Tarantino?

C’mon, you’re as excited as me aren’t you?

I read somewhere that Tarantino discovered Hero yonks ago, but hung onto it until well after he'd made and marketed the Kill Bill movies.

Hero is great, and Tarantino did nothing but change a few maps into the alphabet rather than Chinese characters so we could read them in the movie. It came out in 2000 in China I think. Chinese hate it because its too 'western' (ie you don't know what's happening right from the beginning). The director is Zhang Yimou who also did 'raise the red lantern' one of the most famous chinese movies. NOte chinese movies often have either very subtle plots (arty) or way over the top plots with odd humour.

Zhang Yimou seems incapable of producing a happy movie (and I'm a fan).
